Forbes magazine published the Live and Invest Overseas Global Property Survey 2021 results, an annual index detailing what it costs to own a property in the world’s best places to live or retire abroad.
In the survey, Santa Marta is located in 2nd place as one of the best options to buy an apartment facing the sea, due to its affordable costs, its annual valuation and the quality of life that it generates as it is a calm city.
The survey looks at the cost of buying two bedroom, two bathroom apartments, between 70 and 100 square meters (about 800 to 1,100 square feet), in neighborhoods where a retiree would feel comfortable and likely to buy.
The natural wealth of La Perla de America is also mentioned, which makes it unique in the world, and El Rodadero as the most visited tourist beach in Colombia, as well as the renovation of the boardwalks by the sea, the varied commercial offer that the city has and its majestic landscapes.
Regarding the real estate sector, Forbes indicates that during 2020 property prices in Santa Marta increased by 23% in dollar terms, standing out globally for the wide margin of appreciation and for maintaining a positive behavior even in the midst of the sanitary emergency.
